A balanced approach to education

Kingsbury Country Day School is a Kindergarten – 8th grade tuition-free public school academy with tuition based preschool and junior kindergarten placed on a one hundred acre wooded campus.

Kingsbury Country Day School exists to provide students the time and space needed to authentically develop social, emotional, and academic skills. Our school is off the beaten path for a reason - when students unplug and enjoy our one hundred acre, wooded campus they can investigate meaningful content and develop character traits that are critical to a well-rounded learner. By fostering positive relationships between students, families, and faculty, a thriving, healthy school community can continue educating students in the Kingsbury Way.

Exploration & Environmental Learning

Kingsbury students explore our trails on a daily basis! Our campus is home to an extensive trail system that provides endless opportunities for hands-on learning. Whether learning in the classroom or out on the trails, Kingsbury students gain a greater appreciation for the natural world. This is what shapes them into thoughtful, responsible keepers of the environment.

We invite you to explore our trails the next time you visit campus and see firsthand how Kingsbury’s outdoor learning spaces inspire curiosity and discovery.

School News

We chose Kingsbury because of the long tradition of using the outdoor classroom. My kids are happy every morning to come here and are smiling when I pick them up. They really love their school and this is important to our family that they are happy in their school environment.
Third and Fourth Grade Parent
We love Kingsbury because of its outdoors approach to learning. It's truly a place where kids can be kids. My child is a risk taker and an explorer of the woods. We love the small class sizes and the small community feeling. Our favorite experiences are Ski Fridays and playing on the soccer team. We love walking over to see our cute farm animals weekly
The Skelly Family
I love Kingsbury and that its parent community addresses the whole child, from strong academic approaches, social skills, physical health, environmental consciousness, and community relations.
The Wingerter Family
Our time at Kingsbury has been proven to be a great contributor to our children's upbringing. Whether it be the small community, the tranquil time in nature, or simply the shared value of allowing our kids to be themselves. Our kids are always happy to attend school and often share about their day. Overall, I know Kingsbury has allowed our kids to be kids just for a little bit longer, and for that, we are grateful.
The Easlick Family
Our family is so grateful to be part of KCDS - a place where our kids are growing up surrounded by fresh air and muddy boots. At Kingsbury, they don't just learn about the world, they experience it firsthand. Each of our children has thrived in an environment that values curiosity, exploration, and the joy of learning outdoors. The teachers at KCDS are truly one of a kind - nurturing, inspiring, and always ready to turn a muddy mess into a learning experience. Some of our favorite Kingsbury experiences this year were Ski Fridays, sledding at recess, and the 5K.
The Wolf Family
I love Kingsbury because being outdoors more during school should be a MUST in all schools! My kids are so blessed to be here.
The Russell Family
Our teachers at the lower school fully embrace the "not all classrooms have four walls" motto! This is a big part of why we chose Kingsbury Country Day School. We have two boys who love going to school each and every day, and we are so grateful to be a part of this community.
The Malbouef Family
Don't let the size of our "Little School in the woods" fool you! We are big on adventure, community, and meeting each child where they are academically.
The Lloyd Family
We love this school because it teaches our children that learning doesn't just happen between four walls, it happens in every field, forest, and stream. Here, they not only master academics, but grow in curiosity, compassion, and respect for the world around them.
The Reed Family
We love Kingsbury because of the outdoor time, including the Environmental Science Program! We love the small school feel, focus on community, ski days, farm animals, and non-traditional learning.
The McPherson Family
Our son is in kindergarten and has Ms. Shultz for a teacher. We wanted to make it known on teacher appreciation week, just how thankful we are for her. Since the beginning of the school year we have noticed nothing but good things about Ms. Shultz. Ms. Shultz is kind, enthusiastic, calm, loving, organized, and patient. Our son has come out of his “shell” since last year, and we attribute this largely to the positive impact Ms. Shultz has had on him. We feel lucky every day to be a part of Kingsbury. Thank you for all that you put into our kids, and especially thank you for Ms. Shultz!
The Capece Family
Students from Kingsbury were patient, respectful to other students and adults and ready to have fun.
5th Grade YMCA Camp Counselor
My child is challenged and inspired by the content. He responds incredibly well to the teaching style, which is positive and encouraging. As a result, he tries harder and pushes himself to do better.
